Parkland

The affluent community of Parkland, Florida has a rich and beautiful park-like feel to it, which the city actively preserves through careful zoning laws. Until the early 2000s the city did not even have any stores or traffic lights, but thanks to Parkland's location you will never have any difficulty finding what you need. With a population median age of 36 years, Parkland is the ideal community for young families who need the convenience of city living, but want a calmer, more relaxed environment for their children.

Popular stores like Publix, Walmart and Target are all within 5 miles of Parkland, as is the Promenade at Coconut Creek, a lovely regional mall perfect for light shopping and a quick lunch. The Coral Square Mall is slightly further south, and brings together over 120 stores, including many top national brands. If you are in the mood for a high-end shopping experience, very few places can compete with the Town Center at Boca Raton, which mixes a few national brands in with many luxury brands. Naturally, you have to visit the local farmer's market, which operates from November to April each year, attracting a diverse range of vendors thanks to their monthly themes.

Those who enjoy an active lifestyle will find much to celebrate about Parkland, taking the dogs for an outing in the cleverly named Barkland, or horseback riding at Bohola Acres or Wattland. The half-dozen parks located within city limits allow you to truly enjoy the natural environment of Parklands, with over 10-miles of bike trails, and almost as many walking trails. The Doris Davis Forman Wildlife Preserve is especially beautiful for getting close to nature, but if you are looking at keeping the whole family entertained, you have to visit Pine Trails Park. This spot is furnished with sporting fields, a fishing area, a playground, trails and barbecue grills.

The city provides fantastic entertainment for its residents, with a monthly concert series that takes place in the Pine Trails Park Amphitheater, including a variety of musical styles to please everyone. The Amphitheater also plays host to the city's monthly "Movies in the Park" which entertains, while building a sense of community.

The city does not disappoint when it comes to education either, with five public A rated schools and two private schools available. For higher learning, you have Broward College in nearby Coconut Creek, and Florida Atlantic University as well as Lynn University in Boca Raton.
